La Maison Berger

Our Estate

Nestled in the heart of the Alsace Wine Route, in the charming village of Mittelwihr, often referred to as one of the Pearls of the Alsace Vineyard, Domaine Berger is a family-owned winery where passion for winemaking has been passed down through three generations.

Our story is one of heritage, dedication, and a deep respect for our land. Following in the footsteps of Frédéric and Claude Berger, Olivier Berger now proudly carries on the family tradition. Since joining the estate in 2005, he has devoted his expertise and passion to crafting authentic wines while embracing sustainable vineyard practices and an uncompromising commitment to quality.

Our vineyard extends across nearly 9 hectares (22 acres), divided into 67 individual plots spread over the rolling hills between Colmar and Ribeauvillé. This remarkable diversity of soils and microclimates gives each parcel its own identity, allowing every wine to express the unique character of its terroir.

Mittelwihr has enjoyed an outstanding reputation for winegrowing since the 12th century. Benefiting from an exceptional microclimate, the village is famous for its almond trees, the symbol of Mittelwihr and the inspiration behind the renowned Mandelberg Grand Cru vineyard. These exceptional growing conditions give our wines their elegance, finesse, freshness, and remarkable aromatic complexity.

To preserve the full expression of our grapes and terroirs, our wines are traditionally matured in large oak casks. This time-honoured method allows each vintage to develop naturally while enhancing the delicate fruit and floral aromas that are the hallmark of Alsace wines.

Every day, we work with passion and dedication to produce sincere, elegant, and authentic wines that faithfully reflect our family heritage and the exceptional terroirs of Alsace.

Above all, we take great pride in welcoming visitors to our cellar, sharing our passion for wine, and inviting them to discover the world of Domaine Berger through warm hospitality, authenticity, and the art of Alsatian winemaking.

The Berger Family

Come and Share Our Passion

A great wine is best discovered through the people who craft it.

That is why we welcome visitors to Domaine Berger throughout the year in a warm and friendly family atmosphere.

Depending on the day, Claude, Olivier, or Marie will be delighted to take you behind the scenes of our work as Independent Winegrowers. During your visit, you can explore our traditional cellar and, upon request, enjoy a guided walk through our vineyards to discover the landscapes and terroirs that shape our wines.

Your experience continues with a personalised tasting of our wines, where you can take your time to ask questions, learn about Alsace's grape varieties, and find the cuvées that best suit your taste.

Domaine Berger is also a proud member of the France Passion network, welcoming motorhome travellers to stay free of charge in the heart of the Alsace vineyards. It's a unique opportunity to meet our family, discover our wines, and enjoy an authentic experience surrounded by beautiful vineyard landscapes.

Whether you are a wine enthusiast, exploring the Alsace Wine Route, or simply looking for a genuine encounter with a family of passionate winemakers, we look forward to welcoming you and sharing the passion, traditions, and hospitality that define Domaine Berger.
